Learning Plans for Moodle

Organise multi-course programmes inside Moodle

Group required and optional courses into periods, assign participants and follow their progress. Learning Plans lets you manage onboarding or an internal academy from your current Moodle.

Onboarding with several stages

Create a first period with introductory courses and define what each participant must complete to continue. The next period can open automatically or after a manager approves progression.

What you can do

Programme structure

Define periods and subperiods, required and optional courses, credits and course order. Duplicate a plan for a new group.

Assignment and enrolment

Assign participants manually or by CSV, with a preview and confirmation step. Each import supports up to 1,000 rows and enrols users in the relevant courses.

Progress for each role

Participants see their plans on the dashboard. Teachers and managers can view plan and global reports, with filters and CSV export.

Management and integration

Includes assignment and update notifications, automatic or manual progression, and a REST API for integrations within its scope.

Before installation

Requirements

  • Administrator access to install the Learning Plans local plugin and block.
  • Prepared courses with completion criteria configured to calculate progress.
  • Defined periods, required and optional courses, and progression approvers where needed.
  • Existing users and, for bulk assignment, a CSV with the required data.

Setup and support

The interface is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Standard includes updates and email support per production installation. Business adds guided setup and priority support. Ongoing Moodle administration and custom development are arranged separately.

Scope and limits

The product organises course programmes. Moodle's native learning plans focus on competencies, which are outside this scope. The current version also excludes cohort or rule-based assignment, deadlines with reminders, plan certificates, recertification and a self-enrolment catalogue.

What we can show in a demo

In a demo, we can create a plan with periods, assign participants by CSV and compare the learner's view with the manager's report. We also review how course completion determines progress.

A demo takes 30 minutes and is offered after reviewing your needs. If you only need a Standard quote, you can request it in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Moodle Workplace?

Learning Plans installs in your current Moodle to organise course programmes. It does not reproduce every Moodle Workplace function; we review the programme you need before recommending it.

How does it differ from Moodle's native learning plans?

Moodle's native plans organise competencies. Learning Plans organises courses into periods, with progression requirements and participant assignment.

Can I request Standard without a demo?

Yes. Submit a licence request and we will prepare a written quote. If we need more details, we will ask by email. Purchase and delivery are arranged afterwards.

What happens when the subscription ends?

You keep the code you received under GNU GPL v3 or later. The subscription provides access to new versions, fixes and support while it is active.

Which Moodle version do I need?

Tell us your version so we can confirm the installation. Tests are recorded for Moodle 4.1, 4.5 and 5.2; verification with the official Moodle 5.3 release is pending.
